What is the STAC club championship (and Milestone Cup)?
The club championship is across 14 selected races over 2024. A runners best 6 races will count towards the championship (we've changed from 8 races in previous years to make it easier for you to get the races in. There will be prizes for top 3 female and male runner and the league table will be updated throughout the year.
There will also be the ‘Andrew Gardner award’ for any runner who does all 14 races. The award is named after Andrew who incredibly did 339 consecutive club races between 1992 and 2020.
*New to 2026* The Milestone Cup is a secondary competition designed to celebrate participation, progress, and personal achievement for all members of the club. Unlike the primary championship, the Milestone Cup is open to anyone who takes part; rewarding consistency, effort, and individual growth.
Every member has a chance to win, regardless of pace or ranking!
For the races chosen, we try to get a good variety of events; from distance, size, terrain and hills!
All 1st and 2nd claim members are welcome to join any or all the races. There is usually a good STAC turnout on all events. So even if you can only make one or two it’s a great way to do a run that you wouldn’t normally do with other STACs!
How does scoring work for the Club Championship?
There is a maximum 400 points possible per race.
The fastest STAC will get 400 points; 200 points for the fastest time and 200 points for being best STAC.
Everyone else gets points related to how fast they were compared to the fastest time (so if a person was 25% slower they would get 150/200 points) and their STAC placing in that race (so if they were 5th fastest STAC 195/200) points. A total of 345/400 points for this example.
There are 14 races in 2026 and the best 8 will count towards the final placing in the table.
Throughout the year the club championship table will be updated as follows:
Race 1 - Best 1 from 1 race
Race 2 - 1 from 2
Race 3 - 2 from 3
Race 4 - 2 from 4
Race 5 - 3 from 5
Race 6 - 3 from 6
Race 7 - 3 from 7
Race 8 - 4 from 8
Race 9 - 4 from 9
Race 10 - 5 from 10
Race 11 - 5 from 11
Race 12 - 6 from 12
Race 13 - 6 from 13
Race 14 - 6 from 14
How does the scoring for the Milestone Cup work?
Each race is worth up to 400* points split into four key categories:
*Additional Temple Newsam volunteering bonuses are added on top of the 400 (see below).
To recognise those who give back to the running community:
§ +25 bonus points per in-person non-running volunteering role at Temple Newsam Parkrun.
§ Maximum 4 opportunities per year (max 100 bonus points total).
§ Roles must be official volunteer positions recorded on the TN parkrun roster.
§ Virtual roles are not eligible, neither are pacing roles.
§ Roles which allow someone to volunteer and run the same parkrun do not count.
The structure is designed to be transparent and fair, with clear criteria that reflect the values of the club.
