Club Championship Changes
The 2016 club championship will be reduced to twelve events, of which the best eight scores will count. It is hoped this will make the scoring easier. The 2016 championship will not include a marathon, though this was considered; however, it might include a race longer than a half-marathon. First race will be the Muddy Boots 10km at Ripon. Remainder of the programme will be announced in December.
Please note that there will be some changes to the Committee for 2016, Andrew Gardner will be standing down as Secretary, as announced at the last AGM, and Nicki Coop will be standing down as Ladies Captain, while a new position of Welfare Officer has been proposed.
The Secretary’s primary job is to correspond between the club and the “outside world” and between the Committee and the general membership. In a small club this could mean doing almost all the administration except for the finances. Fortunately, as STAC has grown and its Committee has grown, many of the administrative jobs have been delegated to other members of the Committee, e.g. to the Membership Secretary, Newsletter Editor, Webmaster, etc., so the job is far less onerous that it once was.
The present Secretary has also represented the club at national and regional meetings in recent years. However, this is not necessarily a function of the Secretary; it could just as easily be done by another senior member of the Committee, or shared between members. For instance, both the present and past Chairmen, the Membership Secretary and the Men’s Captain have also attended some of the regional meetings.
There will be an announcement should you wish to stand for a position early next year (to note you can stand for any position).
