STAC Championship 2019 – Race 5 (Bluebell Trail)

The 5th and most challenging club race of 2019 saw us take to the hills around Halifax.

This was a beautiful mixed terrain course however with an elevation gain of over 450 metres including the infamous Trooper Lane this was not one for pb’s!

As well as the inclines there were steep descents, bluebell trails through the woods, routes by the canal and then a river crossing to finish the 10.3 mile course.

22 STAC’s took part in the race, and Richard Herrington finished an impressive 6th place, as well as 2nd in his age category.

Chris Gill was 1st in his age category, and there were also great performances by Glen Johnson, Dave Morley, Tillie Clark, Violet Gill and Andrew Gardner who all finished in the top 6 of their respective categories.

In the club championships, Richard Herrington continues to dominate the men’s with perfect scores in each race. Glen Johnson remains in 2nd, with Dave Morley climbing to 3rd.

It’s closer in the ladies as Sarah Morley is still in 1st place, but Tillie Clark is not far behind whilst Annie Roddy and Sam Jackson are still in contention.

After 5 races that have been undulating to say the least, those who prefer the flats will be please to see that most of the remaining races have less hills, starting with the Goole Riverbank challenge in June.
